Are you a professional barber?
As our industry grows, so does the importance of holding a nationally recognised qualification. Eligible Barbers can now fast track their Certificate III in Barbering through RPL.

Get Certified – 4 easy steps:
- Identify your industry and professionals skills
- Collate your industry portfolio of styling and technique
- Complete an RPL competency assessment with our team
- Complete units required to meet qualification

Certificate III in Barbering - RPL
- Identify the units that you can complete via RPL and units you require training and/or assessment in. At least one unit must be completed via Gap Training to be eligible for this program.
- Create your Evidence Portfolio showcasing Skills, Styling and Technique.
- Competency Assessment to certify your skills.
HOW DO I START?
Register your interest with our Student Support team. They will discuss the process with you and then get you started on the tasks you need to complete for the RPL process.

What you need to invest in your new career.
Time Investment

- Complete units required to meet qualification
Course Investment:
Once you have completed your portfolio and competency assessment the team will advise the units needed to get certified and this is all you need to complete and pay for to meet your certification in Barbering.
Funding:
Eligible QLD Barbering professionals can get your qualification from as little as $50* through the TSAGT Program. Participants are required to contribute to the cost of their gap training (only the unit/s that they are require training for).
Trade Skills Assessment and Gap Training (TSAGT) Program is a Qld Government program designed to enable individuals who already have substantial skills, knowledge and experience in the Hairdressing or Barbering industry but do not hold a nationally recognised qualification in the trade to obtain their qualification. Barbering Professionals – Get Certified
Do you have the skills and experience?
Are you an experienced barber who has worked their way through the industry and would click to be qualified without having to redo your education? Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is the process for recognising previous learning that has taken place in the workplace and through life experiences.
How do I get started?
Register your interest with our Student Support team. They will discuss the process with you and then get you started on the tasks you need to complete for the RPL process.

What will you need to do?
- Identify the units that you can complete via RPL and units you require training and/or assessment in. At least one unit must be completed via Gap Training to be eligible for this program.

The time really depends on what can be certified under the RPL system and what needs to be trained.

What will it cost?
The costs of completing an RPL is based on the units needed to be completed for certification to be complete:
Example:
Josh has been working as a Barber for the past 6 years and owned his own Barbershop for the last 2 years. He was taught Barbering by the previous owner who he worked for but has never completed any formal training.
Josh is able to provide evidence that he has the skills, knowledge and experience to be assessed as competent in 22 out of 26 units of the Certificate III in Barbering via RPL. There is no cost to Josh for these units.
Josh needs to complete 4 units to achieve certification which are based on Nominal hours as shown below.
